Sreedhara Panicker Somanath is an India-based aerospace engineer and rocket technician.
He is now the 10th Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He became the 4th Malayali to be named president after K Ksturirangan.
He worked primarily in the areas of vehicle design, engineering, structural design, structural dynamics, and pyrotechnics.

He was born in July 1963 in Thuravoor, Cherthala Alappuzha, Kerala. His father is Sreedhara Panicker and his mother is Thankamma.
He completed his schooling at St Augustine’s School, Aroor, and graduated from Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, Indian Institute of Science, Banglore, and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Career
He became a member of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Indian Space Research Organisation, in the year 1985.
He joined the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle project in its early step. In the year 2010, he became Associate Director of VSSC and Project Manager of GSLV Mk-III launcher.
He held the position of Deputy Director of Propulsion and Space Ordinance until the year 2014.
He became the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre’s Director in Valiamala, where he worked until the year 2018 in 2015.
He took the lead in VSSC. He became the chairman of India’s Space Research Organization (ISRO) in the year 2022.
